About WG-Racing:
WG-Racing should more accurately be called Mike and Michele Woodward racing.
In 2001, I (Mike) decided to go motorcycle road racing. Much to my amazement, my then girlfriend (now wife) Michele did not cart me off to hospital assuming I had suddenly gone mad. Instead she looked at me with that “well if you must do this I might as well support you” look, and hey presto a race team was born. As I was living in Wooburn Green at the time, the team launched as Wooburn Green Racing (hence the WG!). I am not renowned for my creative skills!
I’m not what you’d call a natural build for a bike racer. In all the years I’ve raced I’ve only ever seen one guy bigger than me and that was my part time team mate Keith Masters! At 6' 3" tall and over 15 stone in weight, I’m just too fat to be fast. However, I'd always wanted to race, and after doing the track day thing for 4 years, I finally plucked up the courage and the cash to go racing just to prove whether or not I was as fast as I told everybody I was!. I just did three rounds of Roadstocks in 2001 but it was great fun, not too expensive and enough to convince me to carry on. Poverty and busy weekends suddenly became just a way of life!
